Wedding FAQs
Helpful answers about wedding DJ, MC and coordination services with The Wedding Maestro in Melbourne and Victoria.

Your questions, answered
Is DJ Umut part of The Wedding Maestro?
Yes. Umut, also known as Emmet and DJ Umut, is the person behind The Wedding Maestro. The Wedding Maestro brings his wedding DJ, MC and coordination services together under one brand. Meet Umut and learn about his approach.
Who will be our wedding DJ and MC?
The Wedding Maestro is led by Umut and works with a trusted team of wedding DJs and MCs. Depending on availability and your requirements, your wedding may be hosted by Umut or another member of our team.
We’ll confirm who will be looking after your celebration before you book. Your DJ and MC will follow your agreed wedding brief, including your music preferences, key formalities and reception timeline.
How far in advance should I book?
Weekend dates often book out 1–2 years in advance, especially during peak wedding season. To avoid disappointment, we recommend enquiring 12–18 months before your event. That said, it’s always worth checking availability for short-notice bookings or last-minute weddings.
What music genres do you play?
Our main styles are R&B, House, Turkish and ethnic music. We’re also experienced across a wide range of genres, including the 80s, 90s, commercial hits, multicultural music and wedding favourites.
Can you play rock, heavy metal, or other genres?
Yes. We are happy to tailor the music to suit your event. Sharing Spotify or YouTube playlists beforehand is a great way to help us understand your preferred style, favourite tracks, and overall vibe.
Can I book you alongside a band or other performers?
Yes, however this must be discussed before confirming your booking.
We regularly work alongside live performers, but depending on the setup, additional equipment or sound support may be required.
If the DJ is connecting into an existing band sound system, we require a dedicated mixer channel. Any additional technician, equipment, or sound-related costs arranged by the venue or band will need to be covered by the client.
Can I give you a playlist to follow?
You’re welcome to send must-play songs or playlists as inspiration. However, we prefer not to work from strict pre-made playlists during dance sets, as reading the crowd and adjusting the music live is an important part of creating the right atmosphere.
Can you DJ and MC?
Yes, we can provide both DJ and MC services, or DJ-only if preferred.
We already have an MC booked. Is that okay?
Absolutely, as long as they are experienced and professional.
Please note that when an external MC is involved, they will be responsible for managing the event flow and timings, while our role will focus on music and entertainment.
Does the price change if we only book you as a DJ?
MC services are included as part of the standard package, so pricing generally remains the same. If it’s short notice and we are available, we will do what we can for you.
Do you provide your own equipment?
Yes, all standard DJ equipment is included.
For larger venues, live performers, or more complex productions, additional sound equipment or external audio support may be required at an extra cost.
Our venue is upstairs or has difficult access. Is there an extra fee?
Venues requiring stairs, lift access, difficult loading conditions, or extended setup and pack-down time may incur an additional labour fee between $300–$700, depending on the setup requirements.
Our ceremony and reception are in the same room. Is that okay?
Yes, however setups in shared spaces can require extra time, planning, and coordination.
Additional setup or standby charges may apply depending on the venue schedule, access times, and whether equipment needs to be moved or reset between formalities.
Our venue has sound restrictions. Will that be a problem?
Some venues have strict noise limits that can affect the overall atmosphere and performance quality.
Please let us know about any sound restrictions before booking so we can discuss whether the setup provided by the venue will suit your event expectations.
Can we meet in person before booking?
Yes, depending on the service you’re considering. For our most popular DJ, MC & Reception Coordination service, enquiries and planning are usually handled by phone, email or Zoom.
For additional planning or coordination support agreed with us, in-person meetings can be arranged when needed.
